Monday, December 13

Our class has decided to do an optional Holiday Gift Exchange.  Today the kids who wanted to participate drew a name.  The name also has a list of items that person likes, so the buyer has an idea of what to get.  The cost for the gifts is to be between $5-$10.  Please bring the gifts to school on Wednesday, December 22nd and keep your recipient a SECRET!!!  We'll reveal the buyers after all gifts have been opened.

This Friday is a $1 Spirit Day!  The theme is CLONE DAY.  Kids should wear blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and tennis shoes....so we'll all look alike.  Thanks for supporting Student Council!!

November 22, 2010

Thank you to all families who donated to the Arrowhead Food Drive.  As a school, we collected 2,478 food items!  That's awesome!  Miss Michel averaged the number of items brought per student, and Mrs. Moore's 2nd Grade class won with an average of 15 items per kid.  They will receive the Ice Cream Sundae party.

This is a short week - school only on Monday and Tuesday due to Thanksgiving.  We will be learning about "The First Thanksgiving" and what REALLY happened.  Your kids should be able to give you details about the Wampanoag Tribe and the settlers from England.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving holiday.  Drive carefully if you are headed out of town (like me).  I am THANKFUL for all my fun students and their supportive parents!

See you Monday :)

Student Council Food Drive!

Student Council is planning on picking an outreach/community service project each month. This month the kids decided to do a food drive, to benefit the Billings Food Bank. We will treating the class that collects the most items to an ice cream sundae party. The kids thought it would be fun to have the cans line around the rooms (a visual way to see how much each room has collected). However, I realize that might not work for everyone, so I will be getting boxes for each room, too.

Here is a list of suggested items that the Food Bank is in need of...

Peanut Butter
Soups
Chili
Stew
Pork & Beans
Hamburger
Sugar

Canned Tuna
Canned Meats
Tomato Sauce
Tuna Helper
Hamburger Helper
Baking Mix
Bottled Water

Canned Vegetables
 Canned fruits
Dry Milk
Canned Milk
Baby Food
Baby Formula
Crackers
Jelly

Macaroni & Cheese
Ramen
Pasta
Rice
Beans
Cereal
Bisquick
Flour

The food drive will run from October 28th - November 19th. That way we can get the items down to the food bank before Thanksgiving.

The First Post

Hello everyone!  I promised to get my blog up and running...and I finally did it!  I will post the homework assignments each day, and update the blog on an as-needed basis.

As of right now, there are a couple of events coming up:

First is the Ice Cream Social coming up this Friday at Arrowhead.  There will be food, fun, games, and prizes!  Come to the school at 5:30 this Friday, September 10th for a wonderful family-oriented night!

Second is Open House - Thursday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm.

Third is Saturday Live.  It is on Saturday, September 25th at Pioneer Park (pretty much all day).  The three sixth grade classes are planning on doing a Coffee/Tea basket to auction off.   Please bring any donations that would fit this theme by Friday, September 24th (to my classroom).  If you would like to donate money, I will be sending a volunteer  - with all the money we collect - to a variety of coffee shops to purchase gift cards.  That way the basket winner will have gift cards with larger denominations instead of a plethora of cards with smaller denominations.  Please call/email with any questions!

I am really enjoying your kids so far this year....what a wonderful group of students!
